Column missing for Content Query Webpart filter options

Scenario:
You want to display information from a particular list, and you have set the Query to a specific list. Also you want to filter the data on one of the list columns, but you don't see it in available filer drop-down.

Reason:
This is the default behavior of the Content Query Web-part. By default it shows up only all the site columns and not the specific list columns in the filter drop-down.

Solution:
1. Create a new Site Columns you want to filter on.
2. Add the newly created column to the list.
3. Configure the CQWP filter options, you will see the column now available.
